Diamond Beach is a spectacular place. There is a lagoon inland that fills up with small icebergs that break off of a glacier. These icebergs when small enough float downstream into the ocean. When the tide is coming in, it violently breaks the icebergs apart and pushes them back onto the beach. The beach is pitch black sand. If the light is right the contrast between the ice twinkling in the light with the black sand is like nothing that I have ever experienced before. The weather was horrible when I arrived almost didn't get out of the vehicle due to high wind and rain. My guide said lets go, things change fast in Iceland. He was right, I got lucky with sun setting at the right angle and was able to catch the relflection of the setting sun.
