Glacial Run

I could go back to Iceland and just do this. It was also something that I didn't think would happen as it got cancelled 3 times due to bad weather (something you assume is going to happen more than not when in Iceland).  This was taken from an airplane specifically set up for photographers with a pilot that flies primarily for photographers. My guide was so excited when I told him that we had space on board for him. This is a guy that has seen everything in Iceland, has been guiding for over 30 years, but never had the chance to do this. I don't think that I have ever seen a grown man this pumped! This is a photo of a glacial river that is breaking up as it is forced to flow over one of Icelands immense black beaches. The patterns change daily as the water carves its way to the ocean. Also the colour of the water changes daily as well, depending on the angle of the sun. I actually entered this photo into an international "river" photo competition and the judges were going to disqualify it, as they had never seen a river look like this. Fortunately one of the judges Googled my description and they allowed it. Which was good for me since it placed in the "Top 10"!
